Welcome to the forum.
Just in time for a cyclone! Be safe out there the next few days. This climate is having a battle.

A welcomed change of the main theme out on the home page and people can suddenly register. Let’s not change that again in a hurry
SH50 reopens in the Hawkes Bay today. The country is 100% in recovery mode. Good mahi team.
Reminder: If you C&P from a news site, their images will move on to an archive reference later and you will loose it from your posts. We can upload for you permanently. Just let us know.
Seems in some cases, local workers doing the mahi are working to make roads safe regardless of central support. There’s tooo many heros to pick a few out for recognition (remember that please government) But it’s not the same everywhere. Times are changing. We just missed another tropical low.
It’s interesting re-learning to wait paitiently. But you see, I am patient. I read some interesting articles on other online sites tonight that were spiritually ‘up there.’ Once upon a time I would join in and bring wisdom. Now I am mentally reminding myselg to wait. In fact, like many spiritual travellers, we seem to be caste aside every now and then. This is NOW, and THEN. If you know, from years of being told to hide in the dust.
I should start talking coarsely whilst sitting aside the sandpit. And listen to everyone try to relearn of themselves what should have been our natures centuries ago.
We are importing handheld AM/FM pocket radios and in discussion to import phone rechargeable AM/FM solar radio units (solar/crank/USB rechargeable.) For emergency purposes. These will be put on Trademe with low costs intended. If any member posts asking, we can see about a members rate. Definately cheapest in town!
The whole country is in recover mode. So what does government do?
Reserve bank :- Massive rates increase.
Councils: – Massive rates increase.
Inland Revenue Minister :- Pushing ahead with radical tax changes.
We’re insanely going into a recession. Stop the bus. Reverse the reserve bank hikes. Legislate to mitigate council rates. Remove peripheral ‘taxes’ such as water rates, additional levvy taxes, GST on FOOD and basic commodities. Stop income tax and provisional taxes on the first $20k of income.
Give the people of Aotearoa a chance to recover and rebuild.
What’s your bullet points answers? I’ve know mine. We need to get cash into everyday kiwi’s without the gluttony as always from corporates. Hard hand on corporate bleeding and solid help to every Kiwi.
Oops. Doesn’t look like Cyclops this time. It’s showing its face?
Current Spirit.org.nz care programme:-
1. Importing emergency radios. First import on the way.
2. In discussion to import USB/Solar/Crank rechargeable base units for recharging devices (phones etc) and AM/FM/Emergency band radio reception.
3. Reviewing current sales activities to proportion % to care services.
Scratches head on why it is so hard to wrestle people from their social umbilicles and come along with their ideas. More than happy to go alone and do good for the world if that’s the case.
All you have to do is (1) Register and (2) say hello. No strings. No asks. No requirement to do anything. It just means we are noted and people are able to connect. Or are you hoping I’ll turn into a grumpy old fart and have popcorn at the ready? No. I just learn more about how people work. Or not work. Happy to be like Nanny McPhee. But when you need us…
Are forums still used?
Forums are not dead, but they are suffering from an identity crisis right now. There was a time when forums were where all the activity happened on the web. If you wanted real time discussion, you found it on forums. If you wanted social interaction, you found it on forums. People more easily sign on to social media than forums out of habit. There are massive forums out there and they are targeted to specific purposes. People unknowingly find social media more entraping and become oblivious in the sea of everything that goes there.
This is the most correct answer I can combine from several sources and observation. So why do we have a forum here and what does the above mean?
There are actually massive forums out there that many of you use and yet do not realise. Like Reddit, Quora, Digg. The current list of top active forums are:-
Reddit : General – 330,000,000 active monthly users
Quora : Q&A Forum – 300,000,000 active monthly users
The top ten atm if you check, are :
Reddit
Quora
Yahoo Answers
Stack Exchange
DISQUS
Facebook Groups
Bodybuilding.com Forums
Warrior Forum
Black Hat World
Digital Point Forums
The oldest still running forum is Delphi with 4,000,000 active monthly users and a system that is similar to the old BBS systems / Usenet.
Notice facebook groups in there? That is because that works like a forum, being targeted to a purpose for each group.
Young people learn from the older generations. As the older generation become fixated on social media (when online) this learn as you go translates to future generations.
But forums, like ours, have purpose where there is a targeted use. Such as care provision. Spirituality. Earth & climate changes. Interest topics. It creates an easy way for people to be involved withouth the clutter of social medial and allows participants greater control. We could simply run the actual website activities without social media and hope someday someone puts a non-spam comment (which we are always improving the means to mitigate.) But we’d rather leave the door available.
It’s not as colourful as the old forums we ran. But it highly embedded in the wider website (remember, we used to register just for the forum, the website being insignificant?) And it is solid.
Oh and just to confuse because damn it, you deserve it. Forums are a subset of the Social Media genre. A subset because unlike the pollutant crapfilled clutter of social media where your news never gets heard, forums are targeted purpose.
Onwards.
Silicon valley finances in ruins as the Silicon Bank goes into management. Big tech players left in the cold. Signs of change.
The earth is in Autumn mode. No matter the modelling, it has unpredictability. The intensity and quantity of storms, cyclones and other earthly events is testament to shifting climate. Changing earthscapes.
Those that hold the weight of power are talking interest, rates, inflation, recession, housing, education, health. Noises. Is it in the right direction? All are managed by superweights long-empowered to manage their portfolios. They have the power to effect change. But are they prepared to suffer so you can feel alive or so you feel part of the machinery. Are they brave enough to stand the tide of need.
We don’t need time to tell this one. Do we.
In case you didn’t click to the rhetoric, we are already in a recession and have been for months. The spin-doctors just failed to tell. We being sheep ‘n all. Didn’t know we should’ve been planting and saving instead of spending.
Wake up. Hello?!
In a disaster-cycle, which this good Earth is in, we have opportunity to rebuild. The unfathomable disconnect between what was, and what is, for those who loose everything, can not be measured in words.
A second US bank has just collapsed. Regulators have announced that New York-based Signature Bank is being seized, becoming the third-largest bank failure in US history.
Domino’s are in effect. The US Federal government will be looking to underwrite this to slow the potential run on effect.
Get this right.. Signature bank is the third largest in US history to fail. This is behind Silicon Valley Bank which failed a day or so ago, then not another since Washington Mutual in 2008.
In another announcement today. A large Crypto bank, Silvergate Bank,is voluntarily winding down. The aftermath of the collapse of crypto exchange FTX.
