It’s not a secret. We are going live with podcasts. Equipment is being ordered to produce recordings covering a wide range of topics. Potential live on air options, special healing and related sessions, life skills, how to’s covering healing, wellbeing, advocacy support, care and live coverage, tech, trade… you name it. It’s up to all of us to show support to what genre is of most need at the moment.
Please show your support. It costs nothing but means the world of encouragement to us.

The renovation of our hobby space has begun. We’re setting up the podcast, office, tech and trade hobby area in the garage to free up the home. Rather do this properly. We’ve an update to progress. 1/3rd of the floor and wall insulated. We’re in project mode! See FB or forum for other updates.

Our replacement power supply unit has just arrived. Is installed. We have a running system.
Just working through drives on hand to determine which should be installed in the system. Operating system #1, backup mirror #2, main data #3, backup data #4, video file repository #5. Each would benefit from a separate drive.
We are on the way with the first primary system which will be the podcast – internet connected device.
Will need a new GPU (graphics card) and second power supply unit to set up a second unit later and shift half the drives over to create a safe backup. We have everything else including licences.
If it costs little, which this does due to existing equipment, good idea to create a second unit and shift 1/2 the drives over.
Still looking for welcomed comments, ideas.

New cooling system and a check of the non-working modular power supply unit underway. Might have to do a kiwi fix-up to get the gear working.
The replacement system internals have cleared international customs and are on their way over.
We have the audio mixer charging it’s battery.
WIth the audio mixer, it has the option of a 48v adaptor but didn’t come with it so we can either run direct power from USB or from the installed rechargable battery. I’ll give it a full charge.
In classic style, the Chinese brought callphone arm fitting fell to bits. So I’ve glued and cable tied it together already. Not even a single recording has gone by. Sound about right?
Work has begun to clear room in the garage as a backup location for recordings. We are currently using the dining room which has long-been used as a work from home office but for recording, there are distractions such as the television. So the garage is a backup.
Making it insulated and soundproofed is going to be a mission. It’s a standard metal single garage with wooden framing. Single back window. Metal front tilting garage door (itself needing repair) and concrete floor. I’ve long ago put a raised H3.2 plywood floor over the concrete base in case there is flooding (so any water from outside coming in via the floor, carries out the front of the garage without getting anything wet.
Assuming some second hand carpet will help insulate and help with soundproofing.
I am hoping to insulate, sound proof and turn the garage into a work from home and recording studio going forward. It means a dedicated space and the dining room can go back to family use.
And would you believe it. Our main desktop PC system decided to finally give up. It started overcharging one of the USB ports so the usb cable was burning hot. It then blew the USB port… and three others at the same time as the power supply unit (PSU). So, knowing i had a new PSU, I swapped the board (MB), CPU, memory and drives to a newer case with the PSU already installed. It worked. For about an hour. Then completely died. The MB is dead.
We’re running on my backup PC. But now I feel on the edge of nothing… if this one goes, we’re on phone only unless I re-engage the old physical servers as primary systems for podcasting. They are over ten years (maybe fifteen) of age. They were good systems at the time, but that genre of motherboard seems unlikely to be manufacturered to last. The capacitors are their weakest links and I do not feel like soldering today. How about you?
Best option is to do my usual (slow trickle a little funds) to get new MB, CPU and Memory. Or save even harder for a laptop solution. To get a life’s worth of podcasting done (and some of it is deep soul searching and cleansing) it deserves my attention. Advice?! Save me from my inherent linear mind.
The first delivery of gear has arrived, a new professional condensor microphone and swivel arm. Aling with web cam and / or cellphone connected to PC, is enough to start with. The mixer and second microphone unit is still on the way as is the cellphone swivel arm. But we are good to prepare for takeoff.
Podcasting unit and spare mic set has been ordered. We are go. We’ll be able to set one up permanent and have one portable for when I come a poding… to you (is that a word?!)
